Reading the Internet

It has been nearly two months since I last blogged about anything. This is because two months ago the academic year started, and I have been busy. Stupidly busy.

Stupidly, mind-numbingly busy. Today I should still be busy, but as I have already mentioned, my mind is numb. So instead of working I have been reading the Internet.

Regular readers (if I have such a thing) may remember that I am keen on craft activities, for example: here, here and here.

Imagine my delight when I stumbled upon what might just be one of the most practical, well-researched and useful craft sites on the whole Web: Stop Alien Abductions

    Ah, there you are my dear Crab. I am a regularish reader of your blog but have been missing your pearls of wisdom over the last few weeks. I must assume that the item pictured is a device for stopping aliens from figuring out what you are having for dinner. It can't be a thought shielding helmet as it is the wrong shape, and doesn't have a chin strap. Do I get a prize?

    Oh dear, I hadn't thought of a prize. Now I will have to wrack my already numb brain for something appropriate.

    I guess you would use a bit more black gaffer tape as a chin strap. Could be painful if you were a beardy bloke - but on the other hand good because the aliens wouldn't get your dinner.

    You could always knit a helmet and line it with Velostat. I found a rather nice knitting pattern for you here:

    It might make a pleasant change from nativity and royal figures.

    Oooh that's good! Not sure I've got the time at present - current project is knitting a cow for my nativity scene. It is meant to be a highland cow, but I fear it is becoming just a big fluffy red ball. With legs. And horns.

    That's a cow, isn't it?

      It sounds like one, you could always say it's a pregnant cow. Are you going to knit a pig too? I like pigs you know.
